Another Incredible Goal by Roberto Carlos

Check out Roberto Carlos’s goal for Corinthians from a few days ago. He surprises the goalie by taking a quick corner kick. The same principles apply in catching the goalie off his line when you shoot from distance, say from center field. The ball needs to be deadly accurate and hit with power otherwise the goalie will be able to recover. This type of play is never thought up of on the spot. The players who pull this move off study their opponents to see what parts of their game are weak. One of those weaknesses might be they come off their line too often.

Furthermore, this entire play was poorly defended. There wasn’t a defender marking the front or back post. And the goalie was too far off his to line recover. However, kudos to Roberto Carlos for this quick thinking.

The idea for Goalden is to help other soccer players of all ages improve the many different aspects of their game. We began coaching youth teams and watching youth soccer all over Ontario. We watched semi-professional and professional teams and noticed how far the game still has to develop here. From that, we decided we want to help others obtain the best information as early as possible in their soccer careers. We want to educate readers about the game of soccer and the fine details that are often overlooked by coaches in North America.
